A large crowd had gathered on the top of the hill to watch as the ring of lights that had been hovering in the sky for the last several hours finally descended. A whirring sound reverberated through the air and the clouds parted, revealing a huge, disc shaped space-craft that landed on the ground with a soft thump and a little wobble, before a hatch opened at the base and a spiral staircase dropped down.

The crowd all took out their phones, eager to be the first to get a photo of the invaders as they took their first steps on Earth. Hundreds of pairs of eyes were glued to their screens as they watched the promenade of little green women (for they were a very progressive alien species and the females had long been the ruling gender) almost float down the stairs.

Most of the aliens were dressed in flowing white robes, but there was one alien, several inches smaller than the rest. She wore a crown of flashing red lights around her head and robes of bright orange. She spotted the group gathered nearby and, flanked by two of her guards, floated over to where they were.

Addressing no-one in particular, she opened her mouth. Out came a mangled screeching sound that made everyone’s mobile phones explode. Only then did the crowd take their eyes off the screens and onto the real thing.
